Returning to its home at the heart of London’s South Bank at BFI Southbank and The Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, the Festival will also run in cinemas and venues across central London plus nine LFF partner cinemas across the UK

LFF for Free will offer audiences a fun and wide-ranging programme of events, short films and filmmaker Q&As, both in-person at BFI Southbank and at gallery@oxo as well as short films online on BFI Player – all completely free of charge

Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin’s latest documentary feature Endurance about the epic search to find the lost ship of Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, Sean Baker’s Anora, and Marielle Heller’s Nightbitch starring Amy Adams are among the titles that have been announced within the full lineup of the British Film Institute’s (BFI) 68th London Film Festival. Endurance, which Oscar winners Vasarhelyi and Chin have made for National Geographic, will screen as a world premiere.

Running October 9-20, LFF will feature 40 World Premieres (16 features, 2 series, 19 shorts, 3 immersive), 12 International Premieres (6 features, 4 shorts, 2 immersive), and 21 European Premieres (17 features, 1 series, 3 shorts).

Those titles will all screen at the Royal Festival Hall in the Southbank Centre as the festival returns to the nearly 3000-seat venue for its headline gala and special presentation screenings. The festival will also run in cinemas and venues across central London alongside nine LFF partner cinemas across the UK.

In its fourth year, the LFF Series strand returns and will screen Alfonso Cuarón’s much-lauded novel adaptation Disclaimer starring Cate Blanchett, Thomas Vinterberg’s first foray into TV with Families Like Ours, and Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight’s latest series A Thousand Blows starring Stephen Graham.

Overall, 255 titles from 80 countries will screen across the festival. 112 of those works will be made by female and non-binary filmmakers, making up 44% of the programme.
